GONZALES, La (NBC33) — Ascension Parish deputies are still looking for the person that broke into a Gonzales home and murdered two people and critically injured another.
Dozens of investigators are working around the clock to figure out who slit the throats of Robert Marchand, his wife Shirley, and her son, Douglas Dooley. That same person took off with a safe filled with valuable coins.
Deputies say they found a safe in Livingston Parish similar to the one missing from the home. It's at the crime lab being processed.
Deputies say they've been following active leads, most of them coming from the public.
"Certainly, I would hope that the public will continue to be engaged in the investigation, continue to provide information. Don't discount anything that tweeks your interest. Obviously, it may be that small piece of the puzzle that breaks this case," says Tony Bacala with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.
