BATON ROUGE, LA — Mardi Gras is winding down with Fat Tuesday celebrations all over the state. Here in Baton Rouge, the last family-friendly event is set to walk its way through the streets of the historic downtown neighborhood, Beauregard Town.
This is the 6th annual event, which rolls from the Old Governor’s Mansion and ends on Mayflower Street. It all kicks off at noon.
This year’s Grand Marshall is LSU All American, Rudy Macklin. Also participating in the festivity this year are the BRPD Bicycle Cops and the BRFD Fire Truck. Both department have headquarters located in the neighborhood, so it’s only fitting that they attend.
Residents from the neighborhood love the event, and also try to do a little good each year, too. They ask that people leave nonperishable food items out on the route, which will be collected and donated to the food bank.
