Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Visit Baton Rouge CEO Paul Arrigo speaks at the first "Forum Friday" Luncheon put on by the group Forum 35.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau Chief talks about the significance of tourism to our state. With Mardi Gras season, and the 2012 Bowling Congress happening at the same time, Arrigo says several thousand new people are visiting the capitol city area .
Arrigo says these events don't require a lot of city dollars to put on. But they have quite a bit of return to the Economy.
"Rather than money leaving this community, there's money coming into the Baton Rouge area, and tourists do not normally use the services residents use, police, fire, etc," said Arrigo.
