BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board meeting is standing room only tonight, as they try one more time to come to an agreement on a new interim leader for one of the largest school districts in the state.
In a town hall meeting held earlier this week, some of the school board members expressed their continued concerns. All of which should be addressed tonight.
"Dr. Brister, went to school in EBR, was a teacher, a principal, parent, you name it, he was that person,” Vereta Lee, EBR School Board, said in the meeting when discussing a potential candidate. “I don't have to preach, you know where I stand."
"Sounds simple to say this is needed, do it,” Craig Freeman, another EBR School Board member, added. “What we asked for was another week. To get everything in order. And I understand the need to do it fast, but I'm not for that."
Education leaders across the state plan to discuss these issues further in a education summit set to being held tonight as well. Click here for more on that story.
