Zachary, La (NBC33) — Three Zachary High students in deep trouble for an incident similar to the Bourbon Street sexual assault of an LSU fan, after the national championship.
Parents of all three of the Zachary High boys pleaded the case of their children in front of the Zachary Community School Board Thursday, but did not get the results they fought for.
Their children are accused of acting-out a similar situation to the Bourbon Street incident that landed an Alabama fan in jail and now the kids will finish their school year at an alternative school.
The incident allegedly happened during a baseball event. Parents said this was a stupid mistake between best friends. They call it horse play and immature, but said they're all good kids, who make good grades, and are being judged as criminals because of what happened in New Orleans, with the Alabama fan sexual assault case.
"They're not misfits, just bad choice in judgement," one parent said to the board. "From one mom to another, to hear that, because they made a bad choice. But they're not bad kids."
"Are we just going to throw them to the wolves because one mistake," another parent said, "at a sporting event, that was unsupervised?"
The board showed no lenience with their decision. They voted to uphold their policy and expell all three of the students for their actions. The parents, all visibly upset, stormed out of the meeting room.
