BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — A fundraiser was held today at Louisiana State University to help find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
The second annual "Jazz and Jam" event brought out more than 350 people. All were hoping to defeat a disorder that is the leading cause of death for children less than two years old. The goal of the event was to raise $20,000. Emily Picou's ten-year old daughter Aubrey has S.M.A. She says the funds are badly needed.
"Without your help, you know, she might not make it another year. I mean she could die any day," says Picou.
