NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The NFL commissioner will be around through the 2018 season.
Commissioner of the National Football League, Roger Goodell, has had his contract extended through March 2019. This is the third new contract Goodell has had with the league.
Goodell led the NFL through a nearly five month lockout this past offseason, and helped to secure a 10 year collective bargaining agreement.
Under Goodell's leadership, 23 of the top 25 highest rated programs on television were NFL games.
Goodell also successfully negotiated long-term television contract extensions for 9 years that are expected to be the most lucrative in the league's history.
The terms of Commissioner Goodell's new contract were not announced.
