ROBERT, LA (NBC33) — A severely dehydrated, malnourished horse was discovered on Thursday, Jan. 19 in Tangipahoa Parish. When Sheriff’s Deputies investigated, they learned that the owner of the horse had already been advised that she needed to take better care of the animal.
Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at a home on Michael Lane in Robert, La. and discovered the horse tied to a tree with no food or water located in near distance.
The owner of the horse , Theresa Hoyt, 41, was located after she came out of her home “screaming and yelling.” Sheriff Deputy Tate explained to Hoyt that the horse’s condition has caused public concern and that an investigation was resulting.
Animal Control officers arrived to the location to asses the condition of the horse, which resulted in the arrest of Hoyt on charges of Cruelty to Animals. A neglected dog was also seized from the residence.
