Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Louisiana lawmakers are looking into changing the way citizens vote.
State officials are proposing more than three dozen changes to election laws, some of which are meant to save money.
The bill will go before the legislature during the 2012 session.
Election officials will look into cutting back election day hours; instead of voting from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at night, the proposal would change those hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
They also want to make it easier for voters to request absentee ballots, and to change the dates of some election days.
