Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Some Saints fans are travelling to San Francisco this weekend, and while our LSU Tigers didn't get the win they wanted, LSU fans like Kendon Kayser say football fans in Louisiana need to keep cheering our teams on, no matter what.
"I mean we had two championship worthy teams, and just because one didn't do so well in their bowl game, doesn't mean we can lose support of the saints," said Kayser.
He said that even though he isn't travelling to San francisco, he thinks the black and gold can come out with a "W".
"Fourty niners have a teriffic defense, and if the saints just do their best on defense, pass the ball, then I think we're gonna do well, come out with a victory."
I talked to some fans who said they came to Louisiana just to watch this game with their family.
"We decided that we'd rather be here with family and watch the game back home, then be out in Houston, where there's not too many saints fans," said Saints Fan Aubrei Spicer.
Spicer says being a Saints fan is like being in a big family.
"It goes hand in hand to me, you're a Saints fan, and you're from Louisiana, you're an LSU fan."
She told me she's always looked forward to tradition of Louisiana football.
"Growing up in south Louisiana, we have all these traditions, and superstitions, you'd rather be with family, drinking a beer, Abita beer, sitting on the couch, watching the game, that's what its about, that's what louisiana's all about."
She told me that it doesn't matter where you are in the country, you can be a Saints fan anywhere.
"Saints fans stick together, its like a family, so we can go to this bar, and we've never met any of these people before, and you walk in with your Saints gear on, and all of a sudden you're friends with everyone in the bar."
