Addis, LA (NBC33) — A meeting is set to redesign a controversial, dangerous intersection in West Baton Rouge Parish.
DOTD is still set on putting in a ‘J-Turn’ at the LA-1-Sugar Plantation Parkway intersection in Addis, and they want to go over the plans in detail with residents.
A public meeting is scheduled at the Addis YMCA on January 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
It will be an open house-style meeting where residents can ask questions about every aspect of the J-Turn.
Residents will also be allowed to sign up for email updates from DOTD on the progress of the project.
While DOTD says their studies show a J-Turn will cut down on the traffic flow and the number of accidents at this deadly intersection, residents still aren't convinced.
They plan on conducting their own traffic study to prove the intersection needs a stop light.
Residents have met with the mayor to get the speed limit reduced and to replace the signs with bigger ones.
They tell NBC33 that DOTD's planned public meeting will be their last big push to get what they want.
