Louisiana (NBC33) — BP is helping to prove that Louisiana seafood is completely safe.
The oil giant has been offering up fresh and free seafood on the streets of New Orleans to tourists and football fans during the entire bowl season.
All this is part of a two week effort to promote some of the Bayou State's biggest industries, seafood and tourism.
"They'll get the story that the seafood is safe, the waters are clean, and the beaches are open and this is a great place to come," said BP spokesperson Curtis Thomas.
This effort is just a small piece of a bigger campaign by BP to bring people back to the Gulf Coast after the oil spill.
The company has put millions of dollars into marketing seafood and tourism across the state.
