LOUISIANA (NBC33) —
Big changes are coming for Louisiana taxi cab drivers.
The Louisiana Public Service Commission passed a bill to make sure that all taxi cab and limousine drivers now take debit and credit cards instead of the cash-only payment.
Drivers will also have to show clear identification inside their cars, and they need to register with the public service commission.
All these new changes will be done to make the ride more convenient for customers.
"I've used taxi cabs before, and I had the problem of having to go get the cash for the taxi cab and that was a pain," stated cab user Cindy Carrington.
Monica Ned agrees, "I guess if it's easier for the customers and it keeps them employed, then I'm okay with it."
That bill passed unanimously in December. It goes into effect this year.
