On Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra welcomes a night of Thrills and Chills as they perform their second Entergy Masterworks Concert Series at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts. Serving as a perfect entree to the Halloween season, the opener, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, draws from ghoulish folk tradition. Next come the thrills with Don Juan by Richard Strauss, a piece that depicts the restless romantic hero in his quest for ill-fated love. All treats in the finale, as BRSO welcomes back two guest artists that proved to be audience favorites; cellist Amit Peled, and violinist Ilya Kaler. The two world-class artists will join together in Brahms’ Double Concerto, a piece that showcases the harmony and endless possibilities that only a collaboration like this can provide.
Tickets for the October 15 night performance are $20, $32, $42 and $55. For tickets, call 225.383.0500, or go online to www.brso.org .
