According to the new FBI crime statistics, Baton Rouge and New Orleans remain two of the most violent areas in the nation.
New Orleans had 179 murders last year, while Baton Rouge had 67. That is a drop from the year before.
In 2007, the Cresent City had 209 homicides, the Capitol City had 71.
As for the rest of the state, FBI figures show thatlouisiana had a drop in violent crime in other areas.
