This November, voters in East Baton Rouge Parish will get to vote on the capital improvements bond. The Metro Council approved the $887 million tax plan, which now leaves it in the hands of EBR residents.
The proposal includes a new prison, roadwork and a waterfront museum, but to fund it, there would be increases to property and sales taxes.
Councilors considered breaking the measure into two parts. One would deal with only the tourist attraction, the other, covering the rest of the proposal. Ultimately, councilor decided to leave the bond measure as is.
Voters will decide on November 14th.
