ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (AP) - A six-member West Feliciana Parish jury has convicted a 34-year-old man of molestation of a juvenile under his supervision, despite the girl's testimony that the incident never happened.
Michael Paul Jackson of St. Francisville faces up to 20 years in
prison on the conviction. State District Judge George H. Ware Jr. set sentencing for Nov. 12.
West Feliciana Parish sheriff's deputies arrested Jackson on June 25, 2008, after the girl then 13 told her mother that Jackson fondled her June 19 while they were alone at the mother's residence.
On Monday, the girl, now 14, shocked the courtroom by testifying she was not fondled.
Jurors deliberated more than three hours Tuesday before returning the verdict.
