BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - A 26-year-old Bossier City man is in
jail after medical personnel treated his 4-month-old son for a
facial bruise and notified state child welfare workers.
Police say Robert Avery Farmer was caring for the child while
the boy's mother went to the store Saturday.
City spokesman Mark Natale said Farmer became frustrated when
the baby would not stop crying. Farmer is accused of then hitting
the baby in the face with a closed fist, causing a bruise under the
child's left eye.
The child's mother took him to the hospital for treatment when
she returned from the store. Farmer remains in the Bossier Maximum
Security Facility on $100,000 bond.
