Health officials confirmed seven cases of swine flu in Louisiana.
Five of the cases are in lafayette Parish, one in Orleans Parish, and one in Ascension Parish.
To prevent a further outbreak, several schools closed Monday. No class for Cathedral Carmel in Lafayette, Monday.
Our Lady of Fatima, Saint Pius, Saint Thomas More, and Ascension Day School were also cancelled.
Also in Ascension Parish, a student at Lake Elementary, tested positive for the swine flu. However, this school will not close. There are no other suspected cases at Lake Elementary at this time.
All the infected children are home and taking antiviral medicine.
