Louisiana (NBC33) — BP is suing one of its contractors to help recoup some of the money it lost in the Crisis on the Coast.
According to court papers filed in New Orleans, BP is suing Halliburton to help pay for costs associated with cleaning up the oil spill, as well as lost profits.
The explosion on the Deepwater Horizon rig in April 2010, which killed 11 workers and spewed more than 4 million barrels of oil into the gulf, has sparked a slew of lawsuits and federal citations against the companies involved.
BP has set aside a $20 billion fund to cover clean-up costs and payments to Gulf Coast residents who were impacted by the spill.
