NBC News — Villagers along Nigeria's coast protested saturday Shell Oil's response to a recent oil spill. One month after the spill, crude oil is still washing up on beaches, killing wildlife.
Shell last week denied that any oil washed up on the coast was from its oil rig some 100 miles of the Nigerian coast. Despite this, the facility has been shut down since December 20th. Local villagers, environmental and human rights groups dispute Shell's account saying that the oil was widespread and Shell's responsibility was to clean up.
