BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — A battle is still brewing between Metro Council members and Mayor-President Kip Holden's office. The two groups have been butting heads for months.
Wednesday night, the council overrode the mayor's veto of two city ordinances because they thought it was the right thing to do.
Mayor Pro Tem Mike Walker says the disagreements come because the council and the mayor's office aren't communicating.
"He could have come and talked to us about it," Walker says of the veto. "We could have sat down civilly. We could have put another item on the agenda and resolved the matter. He didn't have to veto it."
Holden was not available for an interview, but he has said in the past that he would have no problem working with the Metro Council to better the community.
