A number of Livingston Parish city leaders will have to keep a close eye on spending over the next few months. Sales tax revenue has dropped 7 percent in the parish, compared to this time last year. In Denham Springs, sales tax collections are down 14 percent.
According to Denham Springs’ Mayor, Jimmy Durbin, this means the city is missing out on $80,000 in revenue.
Durbin says he's taken steps to reduce spending, but the figures still aren't low enough to justify any drastic cuts.
