Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The largest amateur sporting event in the world is making its way back to Baton Rouge early next year, and preparations at the River Center started today.
The United States Bowling Congress has selected the Capitol City for the second time to hold its annual bowling championship.
USBC will take over and transform the River Center into a huge bowling alley by February.
The championships will occupy downtown for several months, and judging from the impact in 2005, it will provide a huge economic impact for the area.
50 tractor-trailers worth of supplies will be dropped off into the river center, totaling 10 miles of electrical wire and enough wood for five three-story homes.
After the championships, the wood will be donated.
