Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Louisiana State Police cracking down on drunk driving this holiday season.
Trooper Russel Graham of the Louisiana State Police says over the past three years the number of people drinking and driving has gone down.
Graham said there are still fatalities caused by buzzed drivers. State police want you to know, one drink is still too many.
"They go with that terribly foolish idea that the person who's had the least amount to drink is okay to drive,” stated Graham. “Impaired is impaired. If you have alcohol in your system, you don't need to be behind the wheel of a car."
Graham says alcohol affects your depth perception and reaction time, so the decision to pull out in front of an oncoming car while drunk could be your last.
