BATON ROUGE,LA (NBC33) — The Foundation for Louisiana is giving out more than $800,000 in grants to area nonprofits.
The grants go to small businesses across the state to help boost the economy in lower income neighborhoods.
Statewide more than 20 nonprofits were selected to receive that money, Close to half of them affect communities in the Baton Rouge area.
Flozell Daniels is the CEO and President of the Foundation for Louisiana. He says the money could really help out businesses closer to home,"Our mission, our focus is around economic opportunity. Our mission is to invest in people and practices that work to both reduce vulnerability and to build stronger, more sustainable communities,"
One of the goals of the Foundation for Louisiana is to increase the number of affordable housing units developed in Louisiana over the next five years.
