CONSUMER ALERT — Ford has issued a voluntary recall. The carmaker says the wheels can fall off Ford Fusions and Mercury Milan sedans.
The recall includes more than 128,000 vehicles from the 2010-11 model years.
The recall only affecting cars with seventeen-inch steel wheels with federal regulators saying the bolts holding the wheels on can fracture, causing a vibration. If the vibration is ignored, the wheels can separate from the car.
Ford dealers will replace the lug nuts on all four wheels.
The recall is expected to begin toward the end of January.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail the beginning of February. Customers may also contact Ford's Customer Assistance Center at 1-866-436-7332.
