PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (NBC33) —
While we're getting ready for our christmas celebrations there are some kids who hardly ever get to have a party or lots of food.
Childrens cup, a non- profit headquartered in Prairieville, is organizing "Christmas at the Carepoints" in southern Africa.
It's a celebration for children who typically don't get to celebrate much.
These children are faced with one of the highest aids infection rates in the world - nearly 50%. That means many of these kids are orphans.
It's a rarity for them to have a party of any kind.
"They're able to experience lots of different things,” says Jaime Doyle with Children’s Cup.” Singing, dancing, music, jumping, slides and water slides. It is summer there so they get a lot of the water fun. So it's just a fun time to really learn about Christmas and what's the real meaning behind Christmas."
A group from Healing Place Church will be flying to Africa Tuesday, December 6, 2011 to help host more Christmas at the Carepoints. If you'd like to sponsor a child so they can celebrate and learn the true meaning of Christmas you can contact Children's Cup at http://www.childrenscup.org
