Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Three members of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) are staying for another term.
Governor Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of John Bennett, Connie Bradford, and Penny Dastugue today.
He said that these three people have been at the forefront of educational reform over the last several years, pushing initiatives like school letter grades, and a new teacher evaluation law. Jindal went on to say these three BESE members want to focus on making the entire school system better.
"We need to give every student in this state the opportunity to live up to their fullest potential, and it starts with a great education,” said Jindal. “That's why it's a top priority going into this next year, and that is why I am so pleased that these three individuals will continue to serve on BESE."
Jindal says these board members will get to work right away to improve education across the state.
