LAFAYETTE, LA. (NBC33) — A Lafayette man has bee arrested for the rape of juvenile.
On Nov. 15, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office reveled reports of an alleged rape which occurred in 2008. The mother of the victim reported to deputies that her daughter disclosed that Jarius Terrell Carson, currently 19, raped the victim who was under 13 in 2008.
Investigators conducted an investigation and issued an arrest warrant for Carson on Nov. 21. Deputies attempted to execute the warrant for 9 days. On Nov. 30th, after a foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody and taken to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where he was charged with aggravated rape.
Though Carson was only 15 years old at the time of this crime he is being treated as an adult offender since a Judicial District Court Judge has determined that probable cause does exist against Carson. Investigators have indicated that Carson was not a stranger to the victim in this case though Investigators will not be more specific then that. Carson is being held in lieu of a $250,000.00 bond
