Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — East Baton Rouge city-parish government leaders met with homeowners from the University Place neighborhood, as discussions continued of a possible neighborhood buy out.
After meeting with all the residents in early November, many questions remained as to exactly how plans would work to buy nearly 50 pieces of property and move residents to other comparable houses.
Many residents are ready to move and most city-parish departments favor the plans, but the final decision has not been made.
"(The) mayor's office is on board, DPW is on board, (the) parish attorney's office is on board, but it still has to go to the council and get seven votes," stated Bob Abbott with the parish attorney’s office.
Today's meetings were in smaller groups to better explain the plans to homeowners, and to allow them to ask more pointed questions.
