Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Baton Rouge city leaders broke ground on a new hotspot hotel in downtown Baton Rouge.
The Hampton Inn and Suites is the Capitol City's latest hotel. The hotel will be located on the corner of Main and Lafayette.
When it is built, it will bring 60 full and part time jobs to the city.
Mayor Kip Holden said construction of the 137-room hotel is only the beginning of development in the downtown area.
"This is going to be the catalyst for other developments along the river,” stated Holden. “So, as you see all of these projects coming together, I urge people to take a look at Baton Rouge… get your cameras because everything will change automatically."
The hotel is expected to open by the end of next year.
