PORT ALLEN, LA (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: The State Fire Marshal says yesterday's apartment fire in West Baton Rouge Parish that left more than 20 people homeless was deliberately set.
Arson was ruled as the cause of the blaze earlier this afternoon.
The fire destroyed two apartments and badly damaged six others. Nobody was hurt during the fire.
An overnight fire in Port Allen has left 22 people without a home. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
The blaze broke out just before 4:00 a.m. at 250 N. 14th Street in Port Allen. By the time the fire was extinguished, eight units were destroyed. Fortunately, no one was injured and everyone got out safe.
The Red Cross is providing assistance to those families that are now without a home.
