BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Every Thanksgiving the average American consumes 45-hundred calories on turkey day. But here in Baton Rouge, if you were brave enough to wake up early you could catch the March of Dimes Turkey Trot.
It's an annual tradition for avid runners to participate in either the fun run, or 5k, all for a good cause.
For Anne Harris, it's one of her favorite Thanksgiving traditions.
"I ran the mile this morning it's a family tradition that on Thanksgiving Day we wake up early mom makes us all run the mile so we can work off all that turkey we will be eating later on during the days," she said.
The Turkey Trot also included a Thanksgiving themed costume contest.
