Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — With traffic high during the Thanksgiving holiday, state troopers are going to be out on the roads patrolling in full force, and are cracking down on aggressive drivers.
Troopers will also be setting up checkpoints around the state to make sure everyone on the roads is sober.
Louisiana State Trooper Russell Graham has advice for drivers who are going to be out on the roads this holiday season.
"We just want people to slow down (and) take their time,” said Graham. “There's going to be a lot of traffic on the highways and on the state roads… even in the city. So we really want people to take their time and pay attention to what they're doing."
Graham also states over the past few years seatbelt use in Louisiana is up, and the number of fatal crashes is down.
