Louisiana (NBC33) —
Louisiana has jumped 14 spots since last year on the Forbes list of ‘Best States For Business’.
The ranking improved from 44th on the list to 30th this year.
Before Governor Bobby Jindal took office in 2008, Louisiana was number 49. The governor says before he took office, the state was losing jobs, but he's made economic development a top priority.
"We continue to outperform the national and southern economies. We're gonna continue to work hard to create jobs. Bottom line, for 25 years, we've been losing our people. The last four years in a row we got more people to move back to louisiana more quickly that they're leaving thanks to the jobs we're creating right here at home."
Forbes makes the list based on six different categories - everything from business costs and labor supply to economic climate and quality of life. Louisiana improved in four of those areas.
