Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Government, religious and educational leaders joined together to carve some turkeys at St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter.
City-parish leaders took part in a turkey carving contest, and the winner of the event this year was District Attorney Hillar Moore.
Director Michael Acaldo says these leaders are setting an example for the rest of Baton Rouge to follow.
"It's a way they can set an example for other people to volunteer, not only during thanksgiving, but all throughout the year, stated Acaldo."
Last year, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux took home the top prize at the turkey carving contest.
