BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — It’s a Baton Rouge tradition that marks the beginning of Christmas in the Capitol City. The South Baton Rouge Parade is scheduled to happen on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Councilwoman Tara Wicker and State Representative Patricia Smith host the annual parade. This year’s theme is “A White Christmas,” and the route will begin at McKinley High School. This year’s Grand Marshall is newly appointed Southern University Chancellor James Llorens.
“Christmas, in my opinion, is the best time of the year. Celebrating together as a community in the spirit of giving and celebrating is one main goal for this annual event. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy our White Christmas Celebration. Merry Christmas and remember to wear your white!! I’ll see you there, says Councilwoman Tara Wicker.”
"This is indeed a wonderful event for our community and I am extremely pleased to sponsor it alone with Councilwoman Wicker. We look forward to the participation of our residents and children of South Baton Rouge and others as we celebrate this holiday season” says State Representative Patricia Smith.
Anyone wishing to make financial contributions to help cover expenses should contact State Representative Patricia Smith’s office at (225) 342-7106 or Councilwoman Tara Wicker at (225) 389-5140.
