IBERIA PARISH, LA (NBC33) — THIS IS AN NBC33 NEWS UPDATE: On Dec. 1, Narcotic Agents with the Iberia Sheriff's Office received information that another package containing suspected marijuana was delivered to a Post Office in Jeanerette.
The package was addressed to Wilbert Guy. Guy was arrested on Nov. 14 for receiving a package containing suspected marijuana by mail.
Guy will face additional charges for possession with intent to distribute. Gilber has been incarcerated in the Iberia Parish Jail since his Nov. 14 arrest.
ORIGINAL STORY: On November 14, agents with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division along with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division and the United States Postal Service conducted an investigation in the attempted smuggling of marijuana.
The investigation resulted in the seizing of 40 pounds of suspected marijuana at a U.S. Post Office in Jeanerette, LA.
Two suspects were arrested - Wilbert Guy, 33, and LaJohnna Guy, 28. Neither of the two suspects were employees of the U.S. Postal service.
Agents from Iberia Parish conducted a search of Wilbert's residence and located two hand guns and one shotgun. St. Mary Narcotics agents searched LaJohnna's residence and were able to locate cocaine, more marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Wilbert Guy was charged with criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, second subsequent drug arrest and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
LaJohnna Guy was charged with criminal conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute.
Both suspects were transported and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and more arrests are expected to follow.
