NBC NEWS — A 68-year-old Florida man is recovering after spending a night clinging to his capsized boat until he could swim to shore.
Anthony Lim survived more than 30 years in the military, several heart surgeries, and now from his hospital bed he can add a night lost at sea to that list.
Lim's survival training helped save his life on Wednesday night, when his 16-foot boat took on too much water and capsized.
He say he kept his cool in the cold waters by putting on his life vest and layering on clothes he had on his boat.
Once he saw the sun rise he swam nearly 200 yards to shore, no easy feat for a man who just had a pace maker installed.
"I was tired. I couldn't feel my legs," he says.
His boat also survived.
It's been towed to shore and looks like it can be salvaged.
