NBC NATIONAL NEWS — The NBA lockout continues after players rejected the latest proposal from owners at a meeting today. Now, players plan to sue the league.
Union representative Billy Hunter, along with Kobe Bryant and other players met with owners this morning. They rejected an offer from owners to split basketball related income 50-50 with players. However, players worried the deal had too many restrictions limiting the free agent market.
Now, Hunter says the players will file a notice of disclaimer against the league speeding up the legal process for players to sue.
"The players had just felt that they had given enough, that the NBA was not prepared to continue to negotiate,” Hunter said. “Things were not going to get better, and they were going to continue to reach and grab."
If an agreement cannot be reached quickly, the rest of the 2011-2012 basketball season could be cancelled.
