BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) — As fall sets in and the winter season approaches, Baton Rouge livens with increasing excitement as the holidays roll in. This year, the Mid City Merchants will again host its premier art event, as expectations for the 14th annual 2011 White Light Night Art Hop continue to rise. This year’s event is targeted to once again bring thousands to the heart of Baton Rouge for an evening of viewing local art trends, meeting the artists, and jumpstarting the holiday season with the fire that only local culture can bring.
White lights have sparkled in Mid City since 1998 and on Friday, November 18, 2011, we expect the finest display ever! The public is invited to this free event where they can view and purchase art by local artists at participating mid city businesses and experience shopping, entertainment, food, and wine. New in recent years is the additional of live music at most venues. Hop on a shuttle, carpool with friends, or stroll down Government Street from one great art opening to another while enjoying the lights and the excitement. And remember- original art is sales tax free in the Mid City Art and Design Cultural District!
This year 49 business members of MCM will open their doors to the public, far surpassing any previous year! A list of this year’s participating businesses, names of featured artists, a map of the area, and promotional photos is available at the Mid City Merchants website, www.midcitymerchants.org .
Please contact Liz Walker at (225) 924-6437 for additional information or if you would like to feature a participating business for an article, as a guest on your show or at a meeting. Jpeg images of art that will be featured at White Light Night can be emailed for publicity purposes.
