The fight to keep a popular tourist attraction open took a festive approach this weekend. People gathered at alligator bayou for some traditional Cajun festivities, all in the hopes of saving the beloved Alligator Bayou.
Parish officials opened a set of floodgates back in April, draining the waterway and displacing wildlife.
The owners of Alligator Bayou and the Louisiana Environmental Action Group filed lawsuits to get the gates closed. The festivities served as a fundraiser to help pay the legal fees.
