Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
Governor Bobby Jindal and First Lady Supriya Jindal stopped in at the East Baton Rouge Registrar of Voters office to cast their votes.
Jindal says the November 19 run-off election is an important one; however, it's the Saturday before Thanksgiving, so he's taking advantage of the opportunity to vote ahead of time.
Jindal states, "We've got some important races still on the ballot. They've got a lot of local races across the state. I'm certainly encouraging people to get out and vote, especially in the BESE races. It's very important for the future of our state."
Meanwhile, the Registrar of Voters in East Baton Rouge Parish says it's slow going for early voting this week.
Early voting started on Saturday, and the Registrar of Voters’ Offices throughout the state will be open for your early vote through Saturday.
Early voting is also taking place at the Secretary of State's Office on Essen.
However, offices will be closed on Friday which is Veterans Day.
Elaine Lamb, with the EBR Registrar of Voters states, "So far, we've done about 800 (early votes) in person and about 200 through the mail, and it could pick up during the week."
