NBC NEWS — There is a good chance you saw some zombies roaming around your street tonight, but one Ohio town is thinking beyond Halloween and is preparing for the real deal.
More than 200 people at a game in Delaware's Wesleyan University's stadium were turned into zombies after a mock chemical leak and the first responders needed to keep the mock disaster contained. However, some of the zombies contaminated by the chemical cloud grew impatient with the slow response.
Delaware County's EMA director says it's hard to find volunteers for a mock hazardous materials incident, but not so with a zombie incident.
"If anything ever happens, it's good we are prepared and we are actually thinking about it,” stated volunteer Nicole Bond. “I think a lot of people came out here because it's awesome."
Zombie volunteers came in very realistic costumes so more than ten different emergency departments could practice what to do in the event of a real mass decontamination.
