Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — It's Halloween, and that means more candy that's hard on your teeth, especially if you wear braces. That's why Hollis Orthodontics in Prarieville has created a candy buy back system that kids can use to redeem for points. They can use the points for things like a Nerf football, movie passes, or even an Ipod Touch.
And the best part is all the candy that kids can still go out and trick or treat for gets donated to troops overseas. It's a great way to make sure kids can still enjoy Halloween, while providing support to soldiers, and ultimately making Hollis' job easier.
Dr. Hollis told NBC 33 that while large amounts of candy are welcome, the maximum one person can bring is 25 pounds.
"I'm glad they can benefit from the system, 'cause I know sometimes they may feel bad about eating some candy that they shouldn't, so this way they can turn it in and get something they really want." Dr. Bryan Hollis, an Orthodontist at Hollis Orthodontics, said.
