BATON ROUGE, LA. (NBC33) — The portion of River Road from North Boulevard south to St. Phillip Street will close to traffic beginning at 12 a.m. Friday for a motorcycle rally that is expected to attract thousands over the weekend. River Road will reopen to traffic at 11 p.m. Sunday night.
During the three-day closure, the portion of River Road from North Boulevard north to Florida Street will be limited to a single-lane of northbound traffic, and southbound lanes will be closed.
On Thursday, Oct. 27, construction crews working on the North Boulevard Town Square project are slated to reopen the westbound lane of North Boulevard to through traffic between 3rd and 4th streets.
The First Annual Red Stick Rally will feature live music, hundreds of great-looking bikes, a strongman competition, Halloween costume contest, pokers runs and guided rides.
Live After Five, the popular downtown Friday afternoon concert series, will be held this Friday only, Oct. 28, on River Road in front of the U.S.S. Kidd in conjunction with the Red Stick Rally. Brandon Giles from Nashville will play the Live After Five concert from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, followed by the band Chasing Scarlett from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. The music is slated to continue with five bands Saturday and three bands Sunday.
