Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The International Heritage Festival kicked off today at the Baton Rouge River Center highlighting the culture and customs from countries all across the globe.
Cultural representatives from over forty different countries participated in today's event.
Exhibits displayed international and local customs, dancing, and cuisine. Many people came out to enjoy the worldly atmosphere.
Festival goers like Stephanie Turner got a chance to learn first hand how countries from Bulgaria to Venezuela express themselves.
Turner says it's important people get to know exactly what cultures we're made up of.
"Everybody's really into their own lives, and sometimes they don't realize if they get out and experience other people's views and their culture they're not gonna know what the rest of the world is like." Stephanie Turner, a Children's Entertainer said.
