THIBODAUX, La (WDSU) — A drunken man didn’t stop at his property line when riding his lawn mower, Lafourche Parish sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies arrested Bobby Punch, 22, on Friday, Oct. 14 in the afternoon after deputies said he was found driving on a state highway driving under the influence of alcohol.
The drunken lawn-mowing driver, deputies said, was driving on LA Highway 1 just south of Lockport.
Deputies said Punch was riding a lawn mower and had cut down shrubs in someone else’s yard. When deputies arrived at the scene, Punch was seen riding the mower in the northbound lane of traffic with a long line of vehicles behind him.
Punch then swerved into the southbound lane, then back into the northbound lane.
When the deputy pulled over the accused intoxicated mower, deputies said Punch reeked of alcohol and spoke with a slurred speech.
Punch was arrested and taken to the Criminal Operations Center in Lockport where he told deputies he couldn’t complete the field sobriety test.
Deputies said that Punch had a blood-alcohol concentration of .312 percent. Deputies took him to the hospital and once his alcohol level dropped below .300 percent, they took him to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux.
Punch was arrested and booked on a second offense of a DWI, simple criminal damage to property, improper equipment and not driving on the right side of the road.
He was released on Sunday after posting $5,000 bond.
