LOUISIANA (NBC33) — LIVINGSTON PARISH - A Denham Springs Police Officer was honored for going into a burning building. Officer Jerod Kraymer rushed into this duplex on Summer Street near Range and pulled the woman inside to safety . Officer Kreamer is getting recognition from State Fire Marshall Butch Browning along with city leaders and the police chief. A private citizen was also recognized for his efforts.
RAPIDES PARISH - People in Alexandria who ignore the city's no smoking ordinance will need to pay up! According to reports, anyone caught lighting up in a bar or within 25 feet of city property will be slapped with a $100 fine. That's just for the first offense. The fines jump to $250 for a second offense and $500 for each additional. The same fines will apply to business owners who allow smoking in their facilities.
WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH - The National Weather Service says the parish is storm ready. That means the parish is prepared to handle a weather situation when it comes through. City officials will get a recognition letter, along with storm ready signs at a council meeting tomorrow. The StormReady program is designed to help communities improve communication and safety skills needed to save lives.
